In Oct 2006 I visited Tokyo and it was everything I had hoped it would be, exotic, busy, high tech, crowded, a non stop rush of colour, noise and activity 24hrs a day, but with the quiet refuge of temples, shrines and Yoyogi Park if I needed a change of pace.

Staying on the 26th floor of a hotel in the youthfully hip Shibuya , I could hear the non stop hubbub of activity on the street far below. Wandering the streets taking photos I encountered only politeness and smiles, at worst indifference, the easiest place to do street photography I have ever visited. I suspect as a foreigner I was allowed a little extra latitude.
